The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) welcomes the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) as its 20th member organization. AACN joins 19 other Council on Linkages member organizations in strengthening collaboration between academia and practice within public health and ensuring a competent public health workforce. Mary Paterson, PhD, MSN, AACN’s Project Director for its Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Academic Partnerships Cooperative Agreement, will represent AACN on the Council on Linkages.

In addition, two Council on Linkages member organizations, the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) and the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), have appointed new Council on Linkages representatives. Beverly D. Taylor, MD, Chair of the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine, joins the Council on Linkages on behalf of ACPM. Philip Amuso, PhD, a former laboratory director in Florida, now retired, will represent APHL. The Council on Linkages thanks outgoing ACPM and APHL representatives Hugh Tilson, MD, DrPH and Jack DeBoy, DrPH for their valuable contributions.
