Academic Health Department Learning Community has a New Look

Have you visited the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community online recently? The AHD Learning Community engages in a variety of activities to support the development, maintenance, and expansion of AHDs, and the Learning Community webpages have recently been redesigned to better provide access to these activities, including virtual meetings and webinars, the newly developed AHD Mentorship Program, resources and tools, and online discussions. In addition, a new webpage has been added with general information about AHDs and a preliminary list of AHD partnerships present in the US. Visit www.phf.org/AHDLC to explore the changes that have been made and learn more about how you can get involved in the Learning Community. Suggestions for future webpage enhancements are also welcome and may be sent to Kathleen Amos at [email protected].

New Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals Webinar Archive Now Available

Opportunities to learn more about the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies) continued this spring with a webinar held in collaboration with the Association of Public Health Nurses, a member of the Quad Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations. Held on June 16, 2015, this webinar provided an overview of the 2014 version of the Core Competencies, changes made in this version and how these changes address feedback from the public health community, and resources and tools available to support use of the Core Competencies. The webinar was recorded, and the archive is now available online for on-demand viewing, along with archives of previous webinars held in collaboration with the National Association of County and City Health Officials, Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health. Questions about any of these webinars may be directed to Janelle Nichols at [email protected].
