Help Support Academic Health Departments - Become a Mentor Today

As the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community prepares to launch an AHD Mentorship Program to help build ongoing relationships between individuals involved in AHD efforts, volunteer mentors are needed. This mentorship program aims to connect individuals seeking guidance in an area of AHD development or operations with those having experience in that area, supporting mutual learning and the sharing of expertise. If you have experience or expertise in any of a variety of areas of AHD development, operation, or evaluation, please consider sharing your knowledge with others by volunteering to be an AHD mentor. To volunteer, simply complete the brief form found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/AHDMentor to indicate your areas of experience or expertise. Once mentors have been identified, requests for mentorship will be accepted. For more information about the AHD Learning Community or AHD Mentorship Program, please contact Kathleen Amos at [email protected].

Have Your Workforce Development Resources Featured on the Council on Linkages Website

Have you created great workforce development resources using the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies)? Developed materials to support your academic health department (AHD) partnership? Produced tools to help enhance and measure training activities? The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is interested in hearing from you! The Council on Linkages is working to expand its online collections of resources related to the Core Competencies, AHDs, and improving and measuring the impact of training. Specific resources of interest include job descriptions and workforce development plans that incorporate the Core Competencies, examples of how the Core Competencies are being used for workforce development, partnership agreements used to formalize AHD relationships, job descriptions for positions responsible for coordinating AHD activities, and tools and examples to help implement any of the strategies and methods described in the Guide to Improving and Measuring the Impact of Training. Suggestions and examples of other types of resources are also welcome. To share, please contact Janelle Nichols at [email protected].

Activities of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice are supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
