TRAIN is not only the premier learning network for public health professionals in the United States, but throughout the world. TRAIN’s focus on “anytime, anywhere” access to learning content reflects the dynamic needs of professionals committed to protecting the population’s health in a variety of environments, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (both of which have TRAIN learners). Therefore, the TRAIN network, supported by the federal partners, state agencies, and academic institutions in the United States who have funded customized portals, provides access to a high-quality solution to fill training gaps in a variety of countries without restricting who can access coursework or when those courses can be accessed.
The total number of professionals utilizing TRAIN outside of the United States stands at approximately 2,400 today. However, the potential workforce with access to TRAIN’s free resources is large – the international health workforce is estimated at 59 million professionals. Moreover, a shortage of 4.2 million workers is predicted. Many health workers entering the workforce, as well as who are already part of it, will need access to cost-effective and quality trainings, which TRAIN offers. Already, international health professionals utilizing TRAIN reside in 158 countries and represent 82% of United Nations members. While some countries have several hundred learners (India, Canada, Nigeria), others have just one (Dijbouti, Laos, Togo, and many others). However, there are no restrictions on how many professionals any country can have on TRAIN (after all, the United States has over 650,000); the training resources are freely available.
TRAIN welcomes all professionals to explore the over 29,000 courses available at no cost by creating an account today!
