Build and Strengthen Your Academic Health Department in Today's Evolving Public Health Environment

At a recent in-person meeting of the Academic Health Department Learning Community, development of successful Academic Health Department (AHD) partnerships and potential roles for AHDs were discussed with public health professionals from across the country. In her latest PHF Pulse Blog post, Kathleen Amos shares her takeaways from this session at the 2012 American Public Health Association Annual Meeting.

Share Your Health Department's Performance Management and Quality Improvement Success Story

The Public Health Foundation (PHF) is dedicated to recognizing the outstanding work of health departments that are improving the quality and performance of public health practice. PHF is collecting and promoting stories from state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments that have utilized performance management systems and/or quality improvement tools to improve health.

Use The Community Guide to Address Key Winnable Battles

The Guide to Community Preventive Services (The Community Guide) provided the Whidbey General Hospital in Washington with effective, evidence-based strategies to help decrease tobacco use in the community and workplace. Learn more about how this winnable battle was addressed through adopting smoke-free policies to reduce tobacco use among workers.

Have your own success story from using the evidence-based findings and recommendations in The Community Guide? Enter the 2013 "I'm Your Community Guide!" Contest for your chance to win. Entries must be received by January 31, 2013.
