The Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community is an initiative of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice that will enable knowledge exchange and collaboration around use of the AHD model to enhance public health education, research, and service.

The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice is a collaborative of 22 national organizations. It has been furthering academic/practice collaboration to assure a well-trained, competent workforce and a strong, evidence-based public health infrastructure since 1992.

Public Health Training Impact

To support the ongoing training of public health professionals, the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice is undertaking the Public Health Training Impact initiative to identify methods and tools to improve and measure the impact of training.

Recruitment and Retention

Our nation’s public health workforce is dwindling. The Council on Linkages response? Asking public health workers how and why they entered the field. These data will be used to develop evidence-assisted recruitment and retention strategies for our nation’s public health system.
