​In 2005, the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) developed competency-based epidemiology training materials for public health professionals in practice. Its goal was to develop a competency set for public health epidemiology, with accompanying curricula and instructional materials for short courses in epidemiology. This document contains the competencies, sub-competencies and learning objectives that have been developed in 9 areas of epidemiological practice. The learning objectives are those appropriate for frontline staff and for senior level technical staff, as suggested by the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice.
