A performance management (PM) system helps a public health organization maximize ability to serve community health needs and build capacity for quality improvement. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) launched a new PM system using a one day introductory workshop for program managers and leadership. Attendees drafted a high level strategy map that tied programs to Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards and measures and the 10 essential public health services. Following this workshop, Maine CDC worked with PHF provided a series of webinars to support the launch of the new PM system across the organization. Read their lessons learned and advice for organizations developing a PM system.
